Keep Virginia Green
Keep Virginia Green was created in 2008 as a call for resistance. It protest the construction of a Dominion Virginia Power coal-fired electrical plant in Wise County, Virginia labeled the Virginia City Hybrid Energy Center. Protests against the construction of this “clean coal” facility were ultimately unsuccessful. As of late 2011, the plant is entering the initial stages of operation. Immense rumblings increasingly shake the nearby town, facilitating a slow and untimely awakening among the residents to the reality of their future conditions.
